There are just so many things to look out for when driving. I am pretty sure many of you have had this experience when you are cruising along a road and when you check on your speedometer, you have exceeded the speed limit. Perhaps just a little or for some, a marginally huge difference! Today, our mission here is to alert you on some roads that is best you always adhere within the speed limit to avoid unnecessary stress.
1) Overhead Bridge at Lornie Road / Lornie Viaduct (Speed Limit: 70km/h)
Perhaps due to the high rate of accidents occurring, any seasoned driver will know that this road is infamous for traffic police “snipers” especially located at the overhead bridge. Although it is a “highway”, the speed limit is 70km/h and we advise all to strictly adhere to it when travelling here.
(Note: Speed Enforcement Cameras have been spotted even at wee hours.)
2) Overhead Bridge at Lentor Avenue (Speed Limit: 70km/h)
This is a busy road and often, drivers are forced to adhere to the speed limit due to the number of vehicles. However, as soon as the road begins to clear up, that is where the “sniper” lays. Many would speed up only to end up with a speeding ticket.
3) Bartley Road East (Speed Limit: 70km/h)
Perhaps you are sending your vehicle for a routine servicing at Kaki Bukit? Be sure to be on the look out when you are travelling here. Often, stationed at the bays, traffic police have their speed cameras pointing at you just after the bends. This expressway lookalike may invoke drivers to speed and you all know what happens next.
(Note: Both Directions of the road are often seen with speed enforcement cameras.)
4) Overhead Bridge CTE before/after AMK Ave 1 Exit (Speed Limit: 90km/h)
For those that frequent CTE will know that is a very busy expressway often having traffic jams especially during peak hours. Often in the morning, speed camera will be deployed towards the City. Speed Cameras have been spotted at midnight in both directions as well. Be sure to be cautious and pay attention to your speed limit when travelling here.
(Note: Both Directions of the road are often seen with speed enforcement cameras.)
5) Sengkang West Way (Speed Limit: 50km/h)
Recently, it has been published that Sengkang West Way had accounted for the “vast majority” of speeding violations on the five roads in Sengkang as said by Mr Shanmugam. This is another hotspot that has been attracting a lot of attention. The road is rather straight and may tempt many drivers to speed. However, be sure to avoid speeding at this stretch of road due to the tightened enforcement.
(Note: Both Directions of the road are often seen with speed enforcement cameras.)
6) Eco-link @ BKE (Speed Limit: 80km/h)
Easily recognised by the bridge, the eco-link is to help our wild animals in the area, allowing the wildlife to expand their habitat, genetic pool and survival chances. Located near the loop that brings BKE to PIE, be sure to keep your speed limit in check as speed cameras are often deployed in both directions.
(Note: Both Directions of the road are often seen with speed enforcement cameras.)
We hope that this article has highlighted to you some of the popular locations where the Police Speed Laser Cameras can be deployed. As well as some locations where drivers are more susceptible to be caught when the cameras are deployed such as Sengkang West Way. I am sure that many of you have seen many aftermaths of speeding and we would like to remind all that Speeding Kills. Be sure to always keep within the stipulated speed limit!
